1950s Vintage Music

Influencing subsequent rock music

In the first half of the 1950s, popular music dominated the charts.  Major stars including Frank Sinatra, Tony Bennett and Kay Starr were the new generation of big-voiced singers and you will find a selection of them within these Past Perfect compilations. Evocative tracks from the early 50s tended to focus on the song’s story and the emotions being expressed, rather than emphasising the orchestration as in previous eras. Crooners, such as Dean Martin, Bing Crosby and of course Frank Sinatra, vied with a new generation of singers.  The relaxed style of Italo-Americano artists on our popular album ‘Italiano Americano’ can be enjoyed while singing-along … and with a wide smile!  “I love good quality music from the 30s, 40s & 50s, and this is absolutely stunning, no joking. I was a semi-pro musician, spent my working life in TV, for the BBC and more. I was a sound engineer, and I will now blow my horn on your behalf all the time!  Thank you so much.” A Bradshaw
